How to Get Cell Phone Records of a Wife Suspected of Cheating

The problem is that after the 9/11 attack, new laws have been enacted to protect things such as cell phone records.  In fact, the Consumer Telephone Records Protection Act of 2006 now makes it illegal to purchase this type of information, of course unless you are listed as the owner of the phone and account.  In the case of joint accounts, you may even be required to prove you are who you say you are.

Now, one option would be to do some investigation on your own to locate the cell phone number and its password.  For example, your husband or wife may retain copies of this information in a filing cabinet, desk drawer, a safe, or other “hidden” place.  If you could retrieve the information, then all you would have to do is log onto the cell phone company’s website, type in the number and password, and in minutes, have all the information needed.

You may also find that your spouse gets lazy at some point and tosses their cell phone records in the trash.  Although this is not likely, it does happen.  Therefore, check the automobile, as well as trash at home and the office, if possible, to see if the records were tossed out for you to retrieve.  If all else fails, just remind yourself that you have other options of catching your spouse cheating.  You might consider installing a small, undetectable GPS unit on his/her car, allowing you to check routes, stops, and locations to determine if infidelity is indeed occurring.
